Thoughtful, effective policies and programs rely on solid data. South Dakota KIDS COUNT is dedicated to providing current, relevant, and reliable data to shape the issues affecting South Dakota children and families.

South Dakota KIDS COUNT produces county-specific data on indicators such as high school graduation rate, number of children on Medicaid, and children living in poverty. This includes an interactive map and printable fact sheets for South Dakota’s 56 counties.

South Dakota KIDS COUNT also regularly updates the KIDS COUNT Data Center to include the most recent statistics for children and families. The KIDS COUNT Data Center is a project of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, and KIDS COUNT is a comprehensive source for data on child and family well-being in the United States. Data is available at the national, state, and county levels and includes access to hundreds of indicators. This information is available for free and is used by researchers, nonprofits, service providers, policymakers, and others as they work to improve the lives of children.
